2010 March 02: Do You Remember?

Do you remember? Do you remember what the old site looked like?

Well, in case you do not, here is a little reminder for you:

ScienceFictionFantasyHorror.com: Old Site Screenshot

The old site was designed to look good at both 640x480 and 800x600 screen sizes, which were still the most popular at the time. The right sidebar would be off-screen on a 640x480 monitor, so while readers would need to scroll sideways to see it, they would not have to do any sideways scrolling in order to read the content.

We also used a purple-black color scheme which matched our logo. The original background was solid stripes; later, as shown in the screenshot (though it may be difficult to see), we added an amoeba-like pattern overtop the stripes to give the background more of an other-worldly feel.

In our new design, we gave the logo a bit of a facelift, but we kept the typeface and same basic design. The site itself is designed to be flexible; it changes size as you change the size of your browser window. While there is a minimum size defined, there is no maximum size set. So, if you are using a large monitor, you may need to reduce your browser window to read stories in a comfortable layout.

While the design is complete (mostly), not all the content is populated. So, you will see new categories that don’t have any content in them. Please stay tuned! They will be filling out soon!

Also, you’ll notice a “Login” button in the upper right hand corner. It doesn’t do anything yet, but stay tuned for that too!

We look forward to presenting new stories and other content and hearing from all of you very soon!

Canville Virtual Village
Under Reconstruction...
There was a time when the streets were alive with the sounds of children playing, friends gathering, and adults conversing. When the heat of summer met its match in an ice cream bar delivered by the friendly chap in the neighborhood ice cream truck. Or, a rubbery hose would refresh children with the spraying of water into the air. Oh, how times have changed. Where go the little children now? Where now gather the teens? Where chatter away the adults all afternoon? And, alas, what has become of the lonesome ice cream man?

In today’s fast-paced world, where many suffer from information overload, we offer a retreat from the headaches of the computerized world in our own Suburbs of the Information Superhighway, Canville Virtual Village. Click here to visit the site.

The Rundown
Dan C. Rinnert: Or show two dates. A thread-started date and a last post date...

Lawrence Richards: Perhaps the date column in the forums could show the date of the last post instead of the first.

Dan C. Rinnert: The forums are complete! All that's left is background stuff and testing.

Dan C. Rinnert: I'm not quite happy with the reply method on The Rundown, but it works.
